Retreats for married couples

Amid the beauty of the gentle woodlands at the Malvern Retreat House, our Retreat for Married Couples provides an ideal setting for a rich spiritual experience. We invite you and your spouse to join us as we reflect upon Our Lord and the Blessed Sacrament of Matrimony. Come away with us for a little while and refresh yourselves in faith at this beautiful Retreat House in the rolling hills of Malvern, Pennsylvania. Here, a married couple can share in the joys, peace and blessings of a holy retreat experience away from the noise and stress of today's world. This weekend may well be the greatest spiritual experience of your life.

The Malvern Retreat House is a place of opportunity. This holy place offers you the opportunity to seek or reinforce, your personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior, our God. It will be an opportunity to meet Jesus face-to-face. An opportunity to talk to him one on one. Jesus will listen to your concerns and heartaches. Calm your fears and share your joys.

Retreat itinerary

These retreat weekends start Friday evening with a welcome address. At dinner, we may share fond experiences with new acquaintances and renew old friendships. After dinner there will be a conference, celebration of the Eucharist, and new couples welcoming ceremony. Saturday is devoted to Private Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with your spouse, time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as recitation of the rosary and a walk through the stations of the cross in an outdoor setting that winds gently through a tree-lined path. Eucharist is celebrated late in the afternoon followed by dinner. A Holy Hour conference and procession to the grotto to crown the statue of the Blessed Lady and Benediction are highlights of the evening. Question and answer session and a social concludes this very special day.

Each couple will have a period of time alone with Jesus Christ, our Father and Creator. There are two chapels or oratories located in Our Lady's Hall. Christ will be waiting there for you. The high point of the Cana Retreat will be your private time spent in silence and adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. This period of time may be a most profound experience.

Our retreat ends on Sunday morning after a great breakfast, conference and Eucharist in the Chapel. Departure is usually about 11:00 am, leaving a good part of the day for you to enjoy together.

All exercises are voluntary. It is entirely up to you to participate in any or all of the spiritual exercises. At any time, you may prefer to be alone together; this too is an important part of the Married Couples Retreat.
