What our new
logo symbolizes
The beautiful symbolism of the Cross and the Wheat has rich theological
meaning. In the Eucharistic sacrifice, we say that Jesus shares in our
humanity as we share in His Divinity through the Bread of Life. Jesus
is the Cross touching each man and woman through suffering and
resurrection. We are the wheat reaching up to the Cross.

Celebrating
100 years of Catholic Lay Leadership in 2012
Our
organization began in 1912 when investment banker John J. Ferreck met
with the Rector of St. Charles Seminary to plan for weekend retreats by
laymen.
To mark the 100th anniversary,
Anniversary Chairman John Kozakowski is leading the team of Board
members and Malvern Retreat House staff to plan the year-long series of
events.

Owned
and operated by Catholic laity, Malvern Retreat House serves the
spiritual needs of men, women, teens, families, married couples,
religious and clergy.
It
is also a place where people of Christian denominations may discern,
strengthen and renew their personal relationship with Jesus Christ,
self and others. Malvern Retreat House, founded in 1912, is the largest
and second-oldest Catholic retreat house in the U.S. This spiritual
sanctuary on 125 acres of wooded countryside hosts more than 20,000
annually. We accommodate 400 overnight with private rooms, two chapels,
five oratories, a large conference center and a dining hall in the Main
Retreat House. The
McShain-Horstmann Family Life Center contains 50 private
rooms, a conference center and dining hall. All first-floor rooms are
handicap-accessible.
If
you're looking for a Catholic spiritual getaway, make Malvern Retreat
House your prayerful destination of choice.
The
Malvern Blog
Prompted
by her vow, Mother Teresa of Calcutta developed the habit of responding
immediately to the demands of the ‘present moment.’ She would insist
that “it isn’t important to look for big things, just do small things
with great love... The smaller the thing, the greater must be our love.”
In
an effort to respond to the demands of the ‘present moment,’ Malvern
Retreat House is now offering you an opportunity to share your
thoughts, creative ideas and simple testimonies of faith experienced
during a retreat... welcome to the Malvern Retreat Blog!
Whether you are thinking about making a retreat for the first time, you
are returning for a yearly retreat or, if you are searching for hope in
the midst of your daily trials, allow this blog to be your “springboard
of hope.” If you are a CA Captain, a recruiter or an individual seeking
to enhance the retreat experience at Malvern, this is your place to
communicate with all of us.
