Bah Humbug – a Three Minute Reflection

December 7, 2017

By Anne M. McGlone, Director of Marketing

Bah Humbug!  Do you repeat this cliché during the Advent and Christmas season?   Take a minute to thank God for this beautiful liturgical season today, count your blessings and do a kind deed.

“Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives, is the perfect preparation for a future only He can see.”  Corrie Ten Boom, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps.

Did you know prayer is delightful?  In The Practice of the Presence of God, it is written, “There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than that of continual conversation with God.  Those only can comprehend it who practice and experience it,” wrote Brother Lawrence.  Prayer is the only way to spiritual progress.

Is this liturgical season filled with everything but God?  Quick fixes, instant gratification?  Tis the season for “waiting and watching” in the spiritual realm.  Trusting in God’s grace means trusting in His love.  Plain and simple.

Turn off your television, celebrate the beauty of Advent and Christmas and spend time with your family and friends.

Place Bah Humbug in the closet; replace it with Merry Christmas to all you encounter.
