In 1973 he was diagnosed with kidney disease which eventually led to his first kidney transplant which he received from his Mother!  Over the years he worked, got married, started a family and obtained at degree in communications from Temple University. Over time he has had to endure two other kidney transplants due to rejection and contracting Hepatitis C from a blood transfusion ultimately requiring a liver transplant too.
