First Tent Revival a Success!

By Anne M. McGlone, Director of Marketing

Revival music thumped over the field as the shuttle buses rolled into the Corrigan parking lot with people for The Catholic Tent Revival on Sunday, October 7th.

Bales of hay encircled the play area of the field for children, a VIP tent with its white-washed sides stood stiffly next to the large tent positioned at the bottom of the field.

Our first Catholic Tent Revival was a success on many levels with close to 100 volunteers assisting the staff.  Men and Women of Malvern wore T-shirts saying, “Ask Me about My Retreat” as they mingled with the crowd.

Joy banners surrounded the tent waving in the wind, confessions were held in the field under a grove of trees and a huge Audio Visual Wall on top of a mobile truck shared stage images to all on the field.

The smell of barbecue beef and pork filled the air much like a family picnic.  Food trucks encircled in the parking lot of Our Lady’s offering a delectable selection of goodies for adults and children.

The prayer and praise music, the speakers and the EWTN tent and recordings excited the crowd.  Chaired by Dr. Rocco Martino and Barbara Martino, this inaugural event is drawing accolades across the U.S.  The office staff is fielding calls from California, New Mexico and various states about the 2019 Tent Revival.  “Can’t you have more of these,” asked a caller.

Teresa Peterson celebrated her debut of Faithful to the crowd on Saturday evening, a precursor of events on Sunday.  With a Bethel-style form of praise and worship music, Peterson drew the crowd into prayer effortlessly.

With a special healing service conducted by Fr. James Blount, Kathleen McCarthy and Msgr. Ralph Chieffo, people stayed beyond their bus schedule departures.  Fr. Blount prayed over every person who stayed in line for a special blessing from the St. Hannibal relic.

Next year the revival will be hosted at the end of June for an entire weekend with Fr. Larry Richards leading the charge.  More information will follow soon.

Malvern Retreat House received a “brush from heaven” this past weekend.  Are we ready for the full deposit of God’s healing and mercy now?  The answer is yes!
