Fr. Larry Hess Miracle Prayer

Advent is a time of remembering those individuals in our lives who have drawn us closer to the Lord.  In reflecting upon the countless individuals who have impacted my faith journey, this morning in prayer the face of Fr. Larry Hess came to mind.

Although he passed away a few years ago, Fr. Larry Hess left an amazing impact on Malvern Retreat House during a charismatic retreat.  It is only within the past two months that I learned of a dramatic healing from a man attending the Allentown diocese men’s conference.  He shared how he was close to death while attending this retreat; Fr. Larry Hess prayed over him with joy and faith.  This man was completely healed during this retreat.  In future blogs, we hope to have him personally tell his story.

With his grey hair, boyish sense of joy and desire to be used by the Lord, Fr. Hess wrote an inspiring  prayer for those who are ill, one is green card and the other is yellow.  He was called morning, noon and night to pray at hospitals, homes, his parish and in the streets.

Healings services at his parish, St. Anthony of Padua in Reading, PA were filled with expectant believers month after month.  Malvern Retreat House hosted several healing retreats with Fr. Hess; life-changing retreats.

Fr. Hess gave his life for others and, in keeping with his desire to bring the healing heart of Christ to all, here is the prayer he wrote for all to pray:

Heavenly Father, I call on You right now in a special way.  It is through Your power that (N) was created.  Every breath he/she takes, every morning he/she wakes, and every moment of every hour, he/she lives under Your power.  Father, we ask you now to touch (N) with that same power:  For if You created him/her from nothing, You can certainly recreate him/her.  Fill him/her with the healing power of Your Spirit.  Cast out anything that should not be in him/her.  Mend what is broken.  Root out any unproductive cells.  Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas.  Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection.  Let the warmth of Your healing love pass through (N’s) body to make new any unhealthy areas so that his/her body will function the way You created it to function.  And Father, restore (N0 to full health in mind, body and spirit, so he/she may serve You the rest of his/her life.  I ask this through Christ Our Lord.  Amen.
