Malvern Minute – Friday
Malvern Minute

June 17, 2016 – Friday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

Mark J. Poletunow, Malvern President (  (Readings for the day)

Matthew 6:19-20

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.
But store up treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”

Reflect: What do we seek? This is a great Gospel message, but there is a powerful attraction to store up material goods and earthy accolades. There is no permanency to any of that. What is lasting, what is good, what is righteous is to grow in God’s grace, humbly making God’s priorities our own. The choices we make for good, for being instruments of God’s Kingdom is what lifts us toward the things above.

Pray: Loving God, my heart is pulled toward the attractiveness of the world, but it leaves me so incomplete. Please give me a heart that seeks your ways, your grace, in all that I do and in all that I desire. Amen.
