Matthew 5:23-24

Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar,
and there recall that your brother
has anything against you,
leave your gift there at the altar,
go first and be reconciled with your brother,

and then come and offer your gift.

Reflect: The body of Christ cannot function well if it is broken. When we sin against our sister or brother we can’t adequately offer ourselves and our many gifts for the benefit of Christ’s body, the Church. Something is lacking. We need to seek healing for ourselves and the other. We need to confess our sins, and seek genuine reconciliation with the other.  It may require us to directly ask for forgiveness from the one offended and to show pardon and mercy when we are offended.

Pray: Loving God, forgive me for the times that I have broken your body by my lack of charity, compassion, kindness and hospitality toward my brothers and sisters.  Provide for me the grace to humbly seek to mend the breach; to ask for forgiveness and to be ever ready to forgive when I’ve been offended.  Amen.

WE BELIEVE, AND THEREFORE SPEAK (2 Corinthians 4:13)
