Malvern Minute – Tuesday
Malvern Minute

June 7, 2016 – Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

Mark J. Poletunow, Malvern President (  (Readings for the day)

Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Reflect: Light helps us to see clearly. A sunny day reveals so much more detail about the world around us. A single flame in a pitch dark environment can be seen for miles. As we receive the light of Christ, Jesus empowers us to be that kind of light even in the midst of total darkness. Through the sacraments, we are transformed; we receive the actual grace to reflect the love of God everywhere we go, most especially in those situations where darkness is encroaching on people’s ability to see the Way, the Truth and the Life as it was meant to be seen and understood.

Pray: Loving God, help me to seek you with all of my heart so that my life might reflect you, the True Light of Life, to everyone I may encounter today. Bless me with your grace so that I might be a true disciple and an instrument of your light to the world. Amen.
