Malvern Minute – Wednesday
Malvern Minute

June 8, 2016  – Wednesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

Mark J. Poletunow, Malvern President (  (Readings for the day)

Matthew 5:19

Jesus said to his disciples:

“Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.

But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

Reflect: In essence, Jesus is showing the disciples the difference between choosing to obey the call to be builders of his kingdom or opting to build the kingdom of the world.  The Ten Commandments and the beatitudes are the guidelines through which God shows us how to conduct our lives if we want to be his followers. To obey and to teach his ways leads us to freedom. To blatantly disobey and to lead others astray creates a web of enslavement. What do we choose?

Pray: Loving God, I want to be free of enslavement to sin. Help me to confess my sins; to be reconciled with the Church so that I might truly live in freedom as your child, always secure in your care and love for me. Amen.
