Last Sunday, a group of retreatants from the Matt 57 Retreat Group made a visit to the retreat house. Father Jim McGuinn offered Mass for them and the group was able to gather and enjoy the grounds of Malvern.  The Matt 57 group is for men in recovery and their annual retreat has been postponed for two years in a year due to COVID.  Happily, they still felt called to come together at Malvern. This retreat house is special to so many people and we are constantly inspired by the dedication of our retreatants. We strive each day to serve them with excellence and hospitality so that Malvern will be a welcoming place for all God’s children. 

A retreat is an opportunity to be away from the distractions of daily living for a couple of days, usually a weekend (though some groups hold retreats during the week), in order to devote time to spiritual recovery from alcoholism. Matt Talbot retreats brings together a group of recovering alcoholics in a setting that promotes fellowship and sharing throughout the weekend. A Retreat Master(s), gives conferences about the topic several times during the weekend.
