It is time we stop people, what’s that sound?
January 23, 2018
By Michael Norton, V.P. Malvern Retreat House –
Walking with 500,000 people down Constitution Avenue in Washington D.C., the famous Buffalo-Springfield song played in my mind (with a few lyric changes):
“There is something happening here.
What it is ain’t exactly clear.
There’s a man with a sign over there.
Telling me I got to beware.”
“I think it’s time we stop people
What’s that sound?
Everybody look what is going down.”
What was going down? The 2018 March for Life in Washington D.C. and just as the song says,
“Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from the blind.”
And speaking their minds they were. Thousands upon thousands of beautiful young and older people standing up for life. Letting the world know that abortion is not an option, a choice or an answer. That all children have a God given right to life.
For those of us in the crowd, there was a sense of hope, a feeling of love and an anointing from God.
“What a field day for the meek.
500,000 thousand people in the street.
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side.”
In spite of what the news reported, or didn’t report, there were 500,000 people in the street standing up for the Right to Life. Young, Old, Black, Latino, Asian, White, Male and Female. It was a beautiful day, a day that I am sure pleased our merciful and loving God.
Yes, Hooray for our side.
