Retreat Director

Fr. Eugene Ritz

Father Eugene Ritz was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania and is the son of the late John and Clare Ritz. His father,” Jack” was a long time Man of Malvern who served as a CA Captain for the L.J. Ferdinand – Hazleton group.

Studying for the Priesthood at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Father Ritz was Ordained a Priest in 2009. In addition to degrees in Philosophy and Theology from the Seminary, Father holds a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

He has served as an Assistant Pastor in Reading, Pennsylvania and as a High School Chaplain at schools in both Reading and Easton Pennsylvania. Father was the Director of Formation for the Permanent Diaconate from 2018-2024. During that time, he also served as Chancellor of the Diocese of Allentown. Currently Father serves as the Vicar for Clergy of the Diocese of Allentown and as a Judge on the Diocesan Tribunal. He resides at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Orefield.

Father is a third generation “Man of Malvern” and credits attending the laymen’s retreat weekends at Saint Joseph’s in the Hills with his father and grandfather as an instrumental support in discerning his vocation to the Priesthood.
