In 1924, the Men of Malvern Newsletter began fundraising to construct a new dormitory with modern amenities, such as running water. Harry J. Johnson, a retreatant and contractor, was commissioned to build this hall. In May of 1925 the new structure—St. Mary’s Hall—was dedicated. Between 1933 and 1934, twelve additional bedrooms were added to St. Mary’s Hall so the space could accommodate more retreatants.
