James A. Fitzsimmons assumed the presidency in 2004. Two years later, Father Gregory J. Hickey replaced Reverend O’Donnell as rector. Father Hickey had a unique connection to Malvern. In his youth, his father, a 50-year retreatant, took him to see the dedication of the Golden Doors in Immaculate Conception Hall. In September of 2011, Father Hickey was reassigned and Father Herbert Sperger was named interim rector.
