JoAnn is a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor, a certified compulsive gambling counselor, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and has worked in the mental health field for over 40 years.
As her first position in the mental health field, JoAnn, was a Substance Abuse Technician at Parkside Lodge in Moorestown, NJ and subsequently became one of their Program Specialist.
When Hampton Hospital was opened in 1986, JoAnn was offered a position in their psychiatric program as an Addiction Counselor in their Evaluation Unit. She then went on to provide in-house and public training on addictions and cooccurring disorders. She wrote and implemented an adolescent addictions program, which she co-facilitated with Dr. Snyder.
Some of the professional boards she has participated in as a volunteer are NJ Council on Compulsive Gambling, Women’s Task Force on Alcoholism and NAADAC.
In her practice, JoAnn also has trained professional and conducted multiple workshops involving adult victims with history of sexual childhood abuse.
Today, JoAnn maintains a private practice in Woodbury, NJ working with adult sand family members specializing in addictive and mood disorders. She continues to provide public education and prevention/intervention work.
